Anita’s Beginnings
Anita Fetsch Felix began her formal violin studies at the age of 14 under the tutelage of her mother, violinist Nicholette Fetsch. At the age of sixteen, she began her professional work as a section member of the Stockton Symphony and has continued to develop her love of solo and chamber music repertoire in addition to the continuation of her orchestral activities.
Anita’s Orchestral Career
Anita graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance in 1982. She has performed in various roles with several orchestras. From 1982-1986, she performed as a member of the Omaha Symphony and as the second violinist of the Omaha String Quartet giving concerts at the Joslyn Art Museum, and throughout the school districts of the Omaha/Council Bluffs region. Anita was formerly the assistant concertmaster of the Stockton Symphony and the concertmaster of the Gold Country Chamber Orchestra until 1996. Currently, her orchestral work consists of performances with the Sacramento Philharmonic, Sacramento Opera, Sacramento Choral Society, Sacramento Ballet, and substitute work with the Modesto Symphony. Anita is in her ninth season as concertmaster of the Folsom Lake Symphony.
Anita’s Chamber and Ensemble Career
Anita’s Teaching
In 2016, Anita completed a master of music degree in violin performance with Ian Swensen at California State University of Sacramento where she was a Watson Competition winner. Her final master’s project was a paper on “Effective Practice for Students.” In addition to her performing, she now works as an adjunct assistant professor of violin at American River College. Anita accepts students for tutelage through the college.
